Thursday at Explorer Camp was packed with energy, excitement, and just a few raindrops!
The day kicked off with worship and chapel where campers dove into the theme “Rescued from Foolishness”—a reminder that Jesus can rescue us from our bad choices and sin by his grace. Pastor Noah helped campers think about how to walk in wisdom instead.
After chapel, the fun exploded all over camp! Campers scattered to enjoy crafts, gaga ball, hockey, nature time, team building, the climbing wall, archery, sand court volleyball, and fun games.
Lunchtime was a feast: hamburgers, soup, and a salad bar, cookies and ice cream. Then it was off to the lake! Unfortunately, some stormy skies rolled in and cut the fun short, but not before splashing and smiles.
Dinner filled every last corner of every stomach with ham, baked potatoes, creamy mac and cheese, and gob cake for dessert.
The evening kicked off with the hilarious and much-anticipated Cabin Inspection Video—a big screen look at the cleanest (and not-so-cleanest) bunks, followed by Wheel of Fortune: Mantowagan Edition for Gameshow Time. Campers were shouting, laughing, and cheering their team on (boys against the girls). The girls won a game, but the boys did, too…so the boys won for the week.
Then it was back to worship and chapel with Pastor Noah, who shared how Jesus rescues us from loneliness—a powerful reminder that we’re never truly alone with our Savior.
Free time followed, and then came the peaceful glow of our final campfire time—with singing, a short challenge, and a chance for campers to respond to what God’s doing in their lives.
As night falls, rain may gently tap on the cabin roofs, but these campers won’t need much help falling asleep. They’re worn out—in the best way—from a week of nonstop fun, faith, and friendship.
Friday brings the final day of Explorer Camp—and with it, the grand finale of six amazing weeks of Charis Youth Camps 2025. What a summer it’s been—rescued, renewed, and ready for what’s next!
