Dining Hall/Chapel Project:
With the dining hall/chapel complex completed, we now must pay back the $40,000 that we still owe, and find the funds for the needed accessories, such as more round tables (10 at $329 each) and chairs (80 more at $17 each) or $500 per set (table and eight chairs).
Current Projects:
• Finish the fifth cabin on the boy's side. Still need approximately $8000. This is Leamersville GBC's project using volunteer labor. They have given over $10,000 and Vicksburg GBC gave $2,050.
• Replace the 48 top mattresses in the cabins -$130 each
• Purchase a counter for the dining hall hot beverage area: $1,000
• Replace the mower with a zero turn mower: $8,000
• Put propane heaters in cabins 5 and 7: $2,000
"Wish We Could" Projects:
• Replace 48 cabin bunk beds @$220: $10,560
• Drill another well for a back up water system for growth & emergency: $ ?
• Add a wood stove in the new dining hall to save on fuel and have a great place to get warm on cold winter days: $4,000
• Build a staircase from the dining hall to the parking lot: $4,500
• Tile or refinish the 36 year old cabin floors - 8 cabins x $1000.00 each
• Install another window in the eight cabins for ventilation. - $600.00 each
• Replace the two lodge (retreat center) basement doors: $1,800 each
• A van to haul youth and summer campers.
"Way Out There Dream" Possibilities:
• Add more staff/family cabins @$24,000 OR build a hotel complex ?
• A chapel in the woods with seating for 250 plus.
• Attempt to buy the 60 posted acres above us to prevent developers from building.
• Build a larger sewage plant OR hook into the local system ?
• Add programming: horses (buy a farm?) and boat for skiing and tubing.
• Add paid staff: cooks for retreats AND a summer lifeguard and activity director
• Develop and dig a pond area.
• Buy camps across road for staff housing. |
